FIVE DAY TREK

But there are advantages, that you get to experience more fun, you can even feel the sensation for 5 days and 4 nights in the Mount Leuser National Area.
You can see a variety of rare animals and plants, all of these are rarely seen by other travelers who only do the 1 or 2 day trek.
Some major species commonly seen: Sumatran orangutan, Thomas’s langur (Thomas leaf monkey) – unique to northern Sumatra, Silvery lutung (silver leaf monkey), Wreathed hornbill, Siamang (black gibbon), Sumatran lar gibbon (white-handed gibbon), Crab-eating macaque (long-tailed macaque), Southern pig-tailed macaque, Sunda slow loris, Wild boar (banded pig), Water monitor, Great argus (Sumatran peacock), Reticulated python, Wagler’s pit viper, Asiatic softshell turtle, Red giant flying squirrel, Malayan giant squirrel, Lesser mouse-deer.

Day 1
After your breakfast around 8:00 am the guide will pick you up from your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang and the adventure in the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park begins. For the next 6 or 7 hours you will hike in the rainforest and encounter many orangutans, while your guide will explain to you more about the wildlife, as well as the flora and fauna, you will be surrounded by in the rainforest. After lunchtime we will continue trekking and spot different types of animals, such as the Thomas’ Leaf Monkey, White-Handed-Gibbon, Siamang and diverse species of Macaques. You may also see hornbills, peacocks and the monitor lizard. Your guide will also share his knowledge about the trees and plants, which are used for traditional Indonesian medical treatment. In the late afternoon we will look for a place to set up our campsite for the night close to a small river in the deep forest. Once having prepared everything for the night, you can go for a swim, assist in cooking or even learn some skills, such as how to survive in the jungle until falling asleep to the sound of the rainforest and the rushing river.

Day 2
The adventure goes on, as we will see the real wild nature of the tropics, spot the animals and learn more about the life of the orangutans and their behavior. We will spend the following night close to Jambur Batu Atas, a rather secluded site, from where we can take a walk to the waterfall, a perfect place to relax and dip into the cold refreshing water after another day of trekking.

Day 3
On the third day we will follow the path alongside the river, while we immerse ourselves into the depths of the jungle and spot more wild animals, thirstily seeking for water. On our way we will pick fruits and vegetables for dinner. In the afternoon we will set up our tents on a flat terrain at Mount Uning. If the weather conditions allow, your guide will lead you through the surrounding area, where you might encounter deer and other wild animals.

Day 4
After the breakfast we will walk through the valleys, climb the hilly area and cross small rivers. Being surrounded by the forest of the deep jungle we might come across the footstep of tigers or encounter elephants, wild pigs, honey bears, deer and many other animals. We will set up the camp at Alur Perak, a water cave, which the mentioned animals like to stay close to.

Day 5
To complete the adventure we will take a short trek, before we go back to your accommodation in Bukit Lawang via river rafting, passing Bohorok and the dazzling shelving scenery next to the river. If you are lucky you might see various animals in the trees and along the riverside, such as monkeys, birds, including hornbills and eagles, monitor lizards and many more.
